Mysterious Menehune

MENEHUNE ARE A MYTHOLOGICAL DWARF PEOPLE IN HAWAIIAN TRADITION WHO ARE SAID TO LIVE IN THE DEEP FORESTS AND HIDDEN VALLEYS.

This color palette was inspired by the strawberry full moon we witnessed during our time here. Despite the name, the strawberry moon wasn't actually red from our view, but we thought why not make it red? We thought it would create an interesting color scheme for a nighttime jungle scene. It allowed us to create bold highlights on top of cool colors.

Painting this scene was a challenge because the 500 square feet spanned 5 walls. Not every piece of the mural can be seen from a specific angle. The walls inside the stairway and the hallway is covered in jungle foliage. And maybe a couple sets of eyes if you look close enough.
